Our Agricultural Production Excursions
The paddock to plate excursion at our apple orchard is an ideal learning experience for students studying Agricultural Production. Students will experience practical, real-world application of agricultural concepts, allowing students to see firsthand how sustainable farming practices are implemented in horticulture. By exploring the apple orchard, students can directly observe agricultural production, from planting and harvesting to distribution, connecting theoretical knowledge to actual farming practices.
The excursion also highlights key areas like resource management, agricultural technology, and marketing as students learn about the journey of apples from the farm to the market. It provides a unique opportunity to understand the environmental impact of agricultural practices and how sustainability is integrated into farming operations.
In addition, the excursion ties into the broader context of agricultural science, exposing students to careers in agriculture, horticulture, and agricultural business practices. They’ll develop critical thinking skills as they analyze different agricultural production methods and consider the benefits, risks, and future challenges of the global food supply. The experience also underscores the importance of work health and safety and ethical practices in agriculture, all while inspiring students to explore pathways in agriculture, natural resource management, and related fields.
